A totally 3D-printed home has been created in China in just 45 days and it is sturdy enough to withstand an earthquake.
Beijing architecture firm HuaShang Tengda completely printed the sturdy two-storey villa with two and a half metre thick walls and three metre-high ceilings.
HuaShang Tengda say the 400sqm structure is durable enough to withstand an earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale.
Buildings have been 3D printed before but they have been spliced together from different parts and then pieced together using a combination of manual labour and cranes.
While the Beijing-based company oversaw the project, there was little physical labour involved in the process.
Construction workers prepared the site and installed the building’s frame, plumbing and rebar supports, but the 3D printer did the rest.
HuaShang Tengda used their own device, controlling the output through four separate systems.
The building is now open to the public in Beijing. Save yourself the flight and check out the gallery below.
