There are some cool things you can do with a patio – in Australia, we tend to transform these areas into outdoor living spaces with barbecues and dining tables.
One American homeowner has taken his patio and recreated a classic 1950s diner.
Oregon resident George Rambo built the diner himself, and it features a milkshake machine, flat-top grill, pizza oven, soda machine and lots of old-fashioned restaurant memorabilia, including bar stools, vintage napkin holders and signs.

The 19th-century farmhouse with the diner also includes three bedrooms and a detached garage/workshop, according to Realtor.
The property is on the market for the first time since 1913 and the buyer will acquire the diner – but may need to negotiate with George when it comes to some of the collectibles.

“I rebuilt it myself, so I love the whole thing. Being able to have friends over and have them ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ over the work I did, it feels good,” Rambo told Realtor.
“You really have to see the house to get a feel for it, to see the amount of work that I did. That makes a guy feel good.”
